Early on, Torchic was very inexperienced and unsure of herself. She was also rather curious, ditzy, and playful, not knowing how to battle well and tended to wander around aimlessly and used to panic when in dangerous situations.

When May started to ignore Torchic in favor of Beautifly, Torchic felt like she needed to compete for May's attention and began to mature, growing more determined to improve herself and regain May's attention, growing out of her childishness.

As she evolved, Blaziken became much more assertive and confident, as she didn't feel the need to compete with Beautifly anymore.
